ICE STORM 2007
Ice up to one and a half inches thick glazed much of Oklahoma starting December 9th. At least 27 deaths, mostly due to traffic accidents, were blamed on the storm system and its aftermath. The Conestoga Con committee came out okay.
Yes, some of us were without power for over a week. Yes, some of us spent upwards of $2k getting the trees off our houses. But we’re warm and safe now.
And thankful it wasn’t worse. Take a gander at some of these pictures. Most from our resident photographer and cleric the Reverend and Dr. Omed.

I thought southern Iowa was bad! Mostly small towns, were out of power for a week, some of them asked for help, since the towns didn’t have any trucks to cut or haul away the trees. Fortunately Des Moines only half an inch of Ice.
Well no lack of fire wood here in Iowa either.
See you in July, try not to have too much ice!

You have my sympathy. We got hit right along with you and they’re still cleaning up the mess. Fortunately, (sad that we needed it) we were declared a national disaster which allowed the authorities to bring in outside help. We should be able to clear it out in time to see if we’ll have more next winter. ugh.
