Life is a Masquerade
Conestoga 12 will feature a Masquerade contest, open to any convention participant, and will be held on Saturday evening after regular programming is completed for the day. It will be judged by guests of the convention, and prizes will be awarded to the winners. During the intermission, while the entries are being judged, the Penguin Players will perform a new play, ripped (and twisted) from the plotlines of Science Fiction and Fantasy movies which will have opened in theaters since last July.
There are no fixed categories for this contest. Contestants may, if they wish, suggest a category that their character might suit. Children will be judged separately from adults. The judges will select the winners and assign a category to each.
Persons who wish to enter the contest must complete an entry form and return it to the registration desk. All contestants should meet in the hallway in front of the art show doors, in costume, at least one half hour before the contest is scheduled to begin. Contestants will then be placed in a line in order of appearance. After contestants have completed their time on stage, they will exit the stage at the back of the room and be seated in the area reserved for them. They may leave during the play if necessary, but should return by the play’s end in order to be present for the awarding of the prizes.
