When writing does a bare bones outline.

Most frustrating character to write: Anita.

Lemur visits.

Laurel has a degree in biology. Active in rescue work.
Lemur starts to settle down.

Lemurs are native to Madagascar and are endangered. Habitat loss.

Narcisuss in Chains was her hardest book to write.

Becomes very focused when gets to work writing.

Easiest character to write: Micah.

Is constantly surprised by characters.

Impressed by research. All weapons in book are real except (I can’t read my own handwritten note).

Makes sure real stuff real and make the fantastic real.

Characters grow over time.

Can save people and fix things that you can’t fix or save in real life.

animals at the con: wolves, snakes, lemur, albino raccoon, Fennic Fox, leucistic python.

Lemur incident (name is Zabu)

How it started? rescued big cats, wolves

Animals cannot be released back into the wild.

Wolves were poisoned with arsenic. Does have security in place now. $1500 reward.

Liger - lion (m)/tiger(f) hybrid. weighs 1000 lbs.

Safari Sanctuary has internships (contact Lori Ensign)

Amanda Gannon provided some questions for Lori about SS.

Wanted to walk us through a day. It’s a lot of keepup. Has 12 1/2 acres. 5000lbs raw meat per month.

The albino raccoons name is Paris Hillcoon.

volunteers can work as young as 12.

Volunteers help prepare food.

Qualities: must be an animal lover, not afraid to get dirty.

has to deal with climate issues

tropical animals go inside.

best turnaround story: Jaguar was very vicious. After 2 years very calm, eat out of hands.

I give my impressions of his covers. Basically I say it has some Byzantine icon influence

says was influenced by Gustav Klimt

each person interprets art in their own way. people get something different when viewing art or reading books. art takes on a life of its own.

unique is not a superlative
has carved out his own territory

does mixed/media digital for some of his work. conscious response to technology available in his art creation.

artists should push those limits of the art and he doesn’t feel he may be doing that.

considers himself an illustrator and wants to be called an artist.

he’s being modest. he is an artist.

background as an architect.

wanted to do something practical

and his degree in architecture served as a great background.

gave him confidence in process

Went to University of Texas. ‘Hook ‘em horns!’

worked in residential architecture and self publishing own comic books and got noticed by Mojo Press and commissioned to do Behold the Man which changed his life.

John is a HUGE Jimi Hendrix fan!

Robin Wayne Bailey one of the major people behind the science fiction hall of fame.

Brad Denton plays a mean guitar.

David Lee Anderson is a great singer/player.

does have a strat(ocaster guitar) noodles around with it as a creative tool for when he gets stuck.

Both have been involved in Archon for a long time. Rich longer than Michelle.

They tell us what keeps them going and volunteering year after year, though they are taking a year off after this con.
