Our charity this year is Therapetics, a nonprofit organization providing service dogs to care for the disabled.

In their own words : “The dogs we train can open and close doors, pull a wheelchair, provide balance, turn on and off lights, retrieve dropped items and go get help. But the one thing they do not have to be trained to do is to provide unconditional love and companionship.

It can take up to 2 years and more than $14,000 to train one of these extraordinary dogs for partnership. However, because of our generous supporters we are able to provide them FREE OF CHARGE to qualified applicants.”

Conestoga is preparing for the charity auction this year by collecting auction items now. If after spring cleaning you have unused items of interest laying about the house, please bring them to the convention. Books, comics, figurines, games, posters, dolls, Christmas ornaments, artwork, DVDs, fan-topical hats and T-shirts, new or used if in good condition, are some of the useful items for the charity auction.

The auction will be held on Sunday, although many exciting items will be sold at a set price on Saturday, first-come first-served, so check us out early! If you have a large number of items to donate, please email scuttlesmommma@aol.com and arrangements can be made to pick them up and get them out of your hair.
