Program 15 - Margene Bahm and the Kansas in 2009 WorldCon Bid

Fifteenth in a series of podcasts about Conestoga. This is the first podcast to be posted though not the first recorded at the convention. Click here to listen to Program 15 (click on title above to view post as a page then you can click on link).

Show Notes (show length 29:52)

An Interview with Margene Bahm. Since WorldCon is coming up. I thought it would be the most timely.

Margene’s first love is dancing. Fandom is second. The WorldCon in Glasgow, Scotland had to bring someone all the way from America to teach Scottish Country Dancing. She taught a session on Irish Ceilidh Dancing at Conestoga.

Margene Bahm along with Jim Murray and Paula Helm Murray were Conestoga 9’s Fan Guests of Honor. She has worked on Conquest in Kansas City for many, many years.

Short Convention Report

Talks about her WorldCon 101 class and the Australian balloting system which is a lot like Australian rules football. It makes sense to those participating, but to an outsider it looks like they are making it up as they go along.

Note The vote for Worldcon is now 2 years out, So LaCon IV members this year gets to vote for 2008. 2007 in Japan will get to vote for 2009. You do not have to attend to vote. Just purchase a supporting membership.
