FIND THE ANSWER TO THE ULTIMATE QUESTION AT CONESTOGA

Tulsa, OK, June 7, 2006 — More than 80 writers, editors, and artists will descend on Tulsa July 28-30, 2006, to celebrate the tenth anniversaries of Yard Dog Press, Meisha Merlin Publishing, and Conestoga, Tulsa’s annual literary science fiction and fantasy convention.

That’s three tenth anniversaries, and as befits a group of techies, someone figured out that 101010 in binary equals 42. And as we all know from the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, 42 is the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything.

Conestoga guests include David Drake, author of more than 50 novels, including the acclaimed Hammer’s Slammers; Robin Wayne Bailey, author of a dozen novels and current President of the Science Fiction Writers of America; Selina Rosen, author and Editor in Chief of Yard Dog Press; Stephen Pagel, President and Senior Editor of Meisha Merlin Publishing; James P. Hogan, internationally acclaimed author of more than two dozen books, and Mercedes Lackey, author of the bestselling Valdemar series. Other guests include Glen Cook, Bradley Denton, Larry Dixon, Jody Lynn Nye, Martha Wells and K.D. Wentworth.

Conestoga will also feature several special events, including a presentation by The Royal Gauntlet, a rehabilitation center for birds of prey. The Royal Gauntlet’s educational demonstration, scheduled for Saturday, July 29 from noon to 2:00 p.m., will be illustrated by the center’s beautiful hawks and falcons. Because of the hotel confines and the time of year, the birds won’t be flying, but it’s still great to see them up close.

The convention will also feature a line-up of panel discussions related to science fiction and fantasy books, film and TV; an art show; a dealers room with books, jewelry, anime, and more; a costume contest; an amateur short film festival; and both live action role playing and card games.

All convention events will be held at the Radisson Tulsa, located on 41st street east of Hwy. 169. Conestoga 10 begins Friday, July 28, 2006 and runs through Sunday, July 30. Registration is $35 for the weekend. Futher details, including a schedule of events and information on how to register, can be found on Conestoga’s website: http://conestoga.sftulsa.org
