Show Notes - (show length 10:36) Chris Merle interviews Fantasy Author Martha Wells. This is our first of several guest interviews.
She mentions Family Feud played at Armadillocon and Conestoga. It’s loosely based on the gameshow of the same name.
Upcoming works:
Stargate Atlantis: Reliquary is due out in March. Amazon doesn’t show it as available yet. You can see the cover art on her website.
One of the questions pertained to what happens to a manuscript once she is finished with it.
David Drake also has a story in Elemental The Tsunami Relief Anthology which is due out in May 2006.
Her web address is http://www.marthawells.com where you can read excerpts from her novels and two complete short stories.
Podcasting Notes - Yes I’m a shameless name dropper. I attended WorldCon in Glasgow last year with the lovely Conestoga Programming Chair Melissa Tatum. She’s the one who introduced me to Martha Wells and her husband Troyce. As for doing podcasts six months later, I met fellow fans Paul Fischer and his wife Martha on a train ride from Fort William back to Glasgow after the con. I didn’t know what a podcast at the time was but he regaled me with his passion for them and so inspired me. Thus Conestoga has jumped on the podcast bandwagon. With much thanks to the tolerant and encouraging con com. Though there are many sci-fi podcasts, we are the second convention after Balticon to be doing them. Look for more interviews with guests and podcasts about the Convention. So far we’ve been keeping to our two week schedule. So you can expect the next one March 23, 2006.

[…] Well, I got a chance today to listen to a short interview with author Martha Wells. I was even more surprised to hear Wells’ accent–I am always shocked when I hear someone speak intelligently in a Texas accent. […]
